The American Boxer Club presents awards for Boxers who produce champion offspring, and to producers of producers. The Michigan Boxer Club honors the owners of these dogs at the annual award banquet. A Sire of Merit (SOM) is a male Boxer registered with the AKC that has produced 7 AKC champions; a Dam of Merit (DOM) is a female Boxer registered with the AKC that has produced 4 AKC champions. The champion offspring can be male or female, and the sire or dam does not have to be a champion. Canadian Sires and Dams of Merit (SOMC and DOMC, respectively) are awarded by the Boxer Club of Canada and must meet the same criteria in the Canadian Kennel Club. Additionally, both the American and Canadian Boxer Clubs offer a Legion of Merit title (LOM). To qualify for the Legion of Merit, dogs must have produced four or more Sires/Dams of Merit; bitches must have produced three or more Sires/Dams of Merit. (The American title requires American SOM/DOM offspring, the Canadian, Canadian. In addition, Canadian Legion of Merit titleholders must themselves be a Sire or Dam of Merit.)
The Michigan Boxer Club began offering awards to dogs owned by Club members that have achieved a Sire of Merit, Dam of Merit, or Legion of Merit status in 2006.
